History and harbors, ruins and resorts, and wisdom and waves come together as you trace the steps of ancient philosophers and athletes in Athens, Olympia, Delphi, Meteora, and more before digging your toes in the sand at two of the most glamorous islands in the Aegean. Magnificent Mykonos, with its iconic 16th-century windmills, and serene Santorini, with its picture-perfect whitewashed villages, warmly welcome guests to experience the colorful cuisine, fiery sunsets, calm waters, and pulsating nightlife. Pack your swim cap and your thinking hat for this tour of Classical Greece where cities and seas collide.

DAY 1 - Fly from Boston to Athens! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome drink.

DAY 2 - Enjoy a panoramic tour of the highlights in Athens showcasing the city's ancient and glorious monuments, including a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium and the Acropolis. Greek for "highest city," the Acropolis was the religious center of ancient Athens and is crowned by the Parthenon, considered the pinnacle of classical Greek architecture. You'll have free time this afternoon and evening to explore Athens on your own. Perhaps you'll browse the myriad shops of the Plaka, Athens' historic district nestled at the foot of the Acropolis or visit one of the city's world-class museums such as the National Archeological Museum with its majestic bronze statue of Poseidon or the Benaki Museum, which houses Greek works of art from prehistorical to modern times. Or maybe you'll take a trip to see the Temple of Poseidon, a 2500-year-old temple positioned on the edge of nearby Cape Sounion with spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. (B)

DAY 3 - Cross the canal into the Peloponnese and visit ancient Corinth. Once one of the most powerful cities of the Classical world, it is here that St. Paul preached to the people of Corinth, and his experience later inspired him to write the New Testament books of the First Corinthians and Second Corinthians. After free time for lunch, we'll take a guided visit to the Mycenae excavations and museum. The inspiration for Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, Mycenae is one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Greece. See the Lion Gate, Cyclopean Walls, Agememnon's Mask, and more before we depart. We'll visit the 2,300-year-old open-air theater in Epidaurus, then continue on to the picturesque seaside city of Nauplia. (B,D)

DAY 4 - Enjoy spectacular scenery as we cross the Arkadian Mountains en route to Olympia, home to the first ever Olympic Game in 776 BC. We'll take a guided visit of the Olympia archaeological site and the museum. Tonight, enjoy a cooking demonstration to learn how to make the traditional Greek tzatziki appetizer. (B,D)

DAY 5 - Drive by the busy seaport of Patras on our way to the ancient city of Delphi, one of Greece's most important religious centers during Classical times. A local expert guides you on a visit to the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Doric Temple, the ancient theatre, and the Delphi Museum with its priceless collection of ancient artifacts. It was here that the famous Oracle was consulted to foretell the destiny of Man. This evening, learn how to dance the sirtaki while sipping a glass of ouzo. (B,D)

DAY 6 - Drive past Lamia and Trikala en route to Kalambaka, a small town in Thessaly perched on the slopes of the amazing rock complex of Meteora. Over 600 years ago, Byzantine monks chose to build their monastic community perched atop these virtually inaccessible rocks. Enjoy guided visits to two of these remote monasteries situated in a unique landscape of limestone rock "towers" that extend nearly 900 feet into the air. (B,D)

DAY 7 - Travel through central Greece to Thermopylae, where we will stop to see a monument at the Thermopylae Battle Site dedicated to Leonidas who died defending the city against the Persians. Enjoy free time in the late afternoon and evening in Athens. ENHANCE YOUR FREE TIME in Athens with an optional traditional Greek dinner by the sea. (B)

DAY 8 - Early this morning, transfer to the port of Athens, Piraeus, for the ferry ride to Mykonos, the whitewashed jewel of the Cyclades Islands. From sandy beaches and seaside cafes to street musicians, Mykonos offers limitless opportunities to kick back and enjoy the island's irresistible lifestyle. Enjoy magnificent views as you cruise across the brilliant Aegean Sea to this island paradise. You'll have the afternoon free to explore Mykonos. We'll have dinner with regional specialties like louza loukaniko (sausage) and kopanisti (peppery goat cheese) at a local restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 9 - Take a walking tour of Mykonos, including a stop at the Church of Agia Kiriaki and a Amygdalota (traditional Greek almond cookie) tasting. Free time this afternoon and evening. (B)

DAY 10 - Enjoy a relaxing day to independently explore the charms of Mykonos. Don't miss Mykonos Town, where mazes of narrow streets link the whitewashed buildings and traditional life continues amidst the bustling activity. Or maybe you'll opt to take a trip to the nearby island of Delos, the fabled birthplace of Apollo and Artemis or head down to the beach to soak up some sun. (B)

DAY 11 - Take the high-speed express ferry from Mykonos to the most spectacular destination in the Mediterranean, the fabled island of Santorini. You'll have free time to explore Santorini before dinner with traditional Greek dishes at a local restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 12 - Enjoy a walking tour of picturesque Santorini, including a picture stop at the cathedral and a glass of Ouzo. Free time this afternoon and evening. (B)
