Washington DC

Washington DC

Visit our Nation's capital during Cherry Blossoms, explore the monuments & museums, Arlington Cemetery & Mount Vernon

Washington DC

Thursday, November 5 – Monday, November 9

Travel to Washington DC to see some of our nation’s most recognizable monuments and historic sites. While we won't see the beautiful Cherry Blossoms, this time of year is MUCH better for touring - you don't have the insane April crowds, the many school children touring, and the weather for the first week in November will be great for exploring the monuments - low to mid-60's in the daytime and cooler in the evenings.

DAY 1- We will stop at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for shopping and dinner (on your own). We’ll overnight at the Crown Plaza in Greenbelt, MD.

DAY 2 – Meet our guide for a full-day tour of Washington, DC.  Our Monuments & Memorials tour will visit the World War II Memorial, the FDR Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Memorial. Afterwards, enjoy time at the National harbor for dinner on own.

DAY 3 – Visit the Smithsonian Castle Visitor Center and then you'll have time to visit one of the Smithsonian Museums.   There are eight Smithsonian Museums in DC, all of which line the Mall area. At 1:30 PM, we’ll meet our guide to continue our tour of Washington, DC, and then enjoy a delicious family-style dinner at Carmine’s Restaurant.    After dinner, our guide will take us on an evening illumination driving tour of the city. (B,D)

DAY 4 – We’ll take a narrated tram tour through Arlington Cemetery. On our tour, we’ll make several stops, including at the Kennedy gravesites, Arlington House, and the Memorial Amphitheater. At the Amphitheater, we’ll witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then, spend the afternoon walking in George Washington’s footsteps as we tour his mansion and take a 1-hour guided tour of Mount Vernon, George Washington’s family estate. Over fifty years, Washington greatly expanded the structure—creating an impressive 21-room residence. The interior of the Mansion has been meticulously restored to its appearance in 1799. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn. (B,D).

DAY 5 – We will depart the hotel and travel back to Cape Cod. (B)
