Seaside Villages of Maine

Seaside Villages of Maine

Enjoy two nights at the beautiful, oceanfront Anchorage by the Sea in Ogunquit

The Seaside Villages of Maine

Wednesday, June 6 – Friday, June 8

Enjoy two nights at the oceanfront hotel, Anchorage by the Sea in Ogunquit, steps from Ogunquit shopping, restaurants, Marginal Way and Perkins Cove.  The hotel boasts heated indoor and outdoor pools, poolside bar, and spacious, tastefully decorated rooms, many with ocean views.

DAY 1 – You’ll have time for lunch and shopping in scenic Perkins Cove, which offers splendid scenery, and numerous small shops, restaurants and galleries housed in weathered fishing shacks. Then, take a leisurely afternoon cruise past York’s elegant homes and rocky coast to Nubble Lighthouse aboard the Finestkind III.  A warm welcome reception awaits us at our ocean-front hotel, the Anchorage by the Sea.  We’ll also enjoy a delicious downeast lobsterbake dinner at Jonathan’s Restaurant (or choose grilled steak tips). (D)

Day 2 - Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the shops on Main Street; relax at the hotel and enjoy the ocean views; or take a stroll along Ogunquit's famed Marginal Way, with it’s gorgeous sweeping ocean vistas. Accessible from our hotel, Marginal Way follows the rugged coast to picturesque Perkins Cove, Ogunquit's quaint fishing village which is spanned by a charming footbridge-drawbridge at its mouth.

DAY 3 - We’ll meet our guide for a driving tour of Kennebunkport to see the romantic Wedding Cake House, admire the lovely grounds and shrines at the Franciscan Monastery, see the contrasting sandy beaches and rocky coastline, and drive past the Bush estate while hearing about the history, culture and stories of the village. We’ll also take a tour of the historic Nott House, White Columns. The First Families Kennebunkport Museum at White Columns, offers visitors a chance to tour an 1853 Greek Revival home and view exhibitions covering two centuries of Kennebunkport history, from sea captains to Presidents.  Located in the heart of the village, this gem of Greek Revival architecture reflects the lives of Charles and Celia Perkins, whose fortunes were connected to the thriving shipbuilding era of Kennebunkport, making the town one of the wealthiest in New England.  You’ll have time to explore the village of Kennebunkport independently before we return to the Cape.
