Friday, November 29 – Friday, December 6

We’ll spend three nights at our San Antonio hotel, the historic Omni la Mansion del Rio, located on the Riverwalk, which will be decorated with thousands of holiday lights.  We’ll also tour Dallas, Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, Grapevine and take a special “Magnolia Fixer Upper Tour” in Waco.

DAY 1 – We’ll transfer to Boston by motorcoach, and take a nonstop JetBlue flight departing at 2:41 PM, arriving in Dallas at 6:16 PM.  We’ll meet our deluxe motorcoach and local tour guide at the airport and travel to Ellen’s Southern Kitchen for dinner, then check into our hotel for two nights, the Hampton Inn & Suites DFW East. (D)

DAY 2 –Discover world-class art, award-winning architecture, thriving neighborhoods and beautiful parks on our highlights of Dallas tour.  We’ll learn about Dallas’ urban revitalization and the professional sports teams that call Dallas home.  Step back in time with a visit to Pioneer Plaza’s bronze Longhorn Cattle Drive and visit to the George W Bush Presidential Center, decorated for the holidays to re-create Christmas’s in the White House during the Bush administration.  We’ll see the largest urban arts district in the US, the Dallas Arts District; and The Pegasus, a Dallas icon flying high over the skyline. After enjoying time for lunch at the Dallas Farmers Market, we’ll hear tales of the Chisholm Trail, Hell’s Half Acre, and famous outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as we head to Fort Worth.  We’ll learn about the city’s fascinating western history and colorful past, see the sunken Fort Worth Water Gardens, and explore the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, where the Old West comes alive.  We’ll take a guided walk of the Stockyards, see the Livestock Exchange Building, and experience an authentic Cattle Drive as teams of Texas cowhands drive a herd of Texas Longhorn Cattle down Exchange Avenue.  You’ll also have a chance to stop by Billy Bob’s Texas, the world’s largest Honky Tonk.  Enjoy dinner at Coopers BBQ in Fort Worth before returning to our hotel. DAY 3 – We’ll enjoy a tour of beautiful Southfork Ranch, the ranch the Ewings called home for 13 years on the TV series Dallas.  We’ll tour the famed Ewing Mansion and relive exciting moments from the series in the Dallas Legends exhibit, featuring an exciting array of memorabilia from the series.  We’ll see the gun that shot J.R., Lucy's Wedding Dress, the Dallas Family Tree and Jock's Lincoln Continental. Then, we’ll head back downtown and drive the route that JFK’s motorcade took through Dallas, see the grassy knoll, and visit the Sixth Floor Museum which is located at the very spot from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed the President.  The museum examines the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.  We’ll head south & take a one-hour city tour of Waco, Texas to see Indian Springs Park, the Brazos River Suspension Bridges and the skyline that viewers of the mega-hit HGTV series Fixer Upper will immediately recognize.  We’ll hear about their lives, see some of the homes that Chip & Joanna renovated on their show, see what they will be working on when they start their own DIY network next spring, and learn about the impact they have made on their small town. We’ll stay in downtown Waco at the Hotel Indigo. (B)

In 1939, the Village was established, and the neighborhood became a center for teaching regional arts and crafts and served as an artist’s market. Today, nearly 30 shops and galleries offer distinct handcrafted items by artists from San Antonio and surrounding areas.  Enjoy an included lunch in a quaint Mexican restaurant and have time to shop for Mexican Arts & Crafts in Market Square before we tour the Spanish Governor’s Palace, which was constructed in the early 18th century. This National Historic Landmark represents the last visual remnants of the Presidio San Antonio de Béjar.  We’ll see O’Henry’s home, tour St Fernando Cathedral in the Main Plaza of historic downtown San Antonio.  Enjoy some leisure time at the hotel to relax and enjoy dinner on own before we return to the Main Plaza to see the 24-minute light show,  “The Saga” projected onto the St Fernando Cathedral that tells the story of San Antonio from its beginning to today.
